Conventions of an Ident

Conventions of an Ident
Music
Within many idents there are common and uncommonly used conventions. One type of convention is the use of music. Many idents make use of music to help when recognising the company. An example of this would be Universal's Ident's choice of music.
Since they have continuously used the same theme of music, more and more of the audience viewers have started to recognise it. This makes the company as well as the ident seem more unique, and helps it to stand out. The music starts out with a dramatic entry, this is to surprise the audience but also inform those that recognise the ident, that the film is about to start.
Visual
Another convention that is used in idents, is the use of visuals. Visuals are used to provide entertainment to the audience while also informing them of who the film or series is being presented by. The purpose of this is to capture the eyes of the audience, and keep their eyes on the screen. Visuals can either be real filming, or consist of animations, which is a common use in terms of making visuals for idents. Animations allow for more flexibility whereas filmings are limited by real life restrictions. However filming offer more realistic perspectives which can better relate to the audience.
Logo
A convention that is also used is the title of the company or a logo that they go by, that the audience can recognise. This is to further help them recognise the company.
Within this ident a distinct logo of the company Warner Bros. Pictures can be seen. It has background that helps in make the logo the main focus of the visual, using colours that stand such as yellow and blue. They use animation to better present their ident and logo.

Channel Number and Channel Name
Another convention that is commonly used in TV platforms, is the referral to the channel number. This is to remind the audience of what channel number their on. This sort of convention is normally used in idents that are in between transitions of films or series. This will allow for viewers to return, as well as if posted on social media, this will tell the viewers of social media what channel they're on, for the purpose of promoting.

Colour Theme
Colour themes, most channel used colour themes to help make their channel more unique this can be seen in BBC Three.
Within this the colour scheme of purple and pink are frequently used, this is to help give uniqueness to the program channel as well as help it be recognised more easily by audience viewers.
