Great! Movies
What is the channel and what sort of programmes does it show?

A channel that is provided by Freeview, on channel 33 is Great! Movies. Great! Movies is known as the main choice in terms of free to air blockbusters. It covers many ranges of genres such as action, indies. It can bring classics. It is a channel that is explained to provide entertainment for all ages. However the original ident as well as brand of Great! Movies was Movies4Men, which was later rebranded to Great!. This showed both a specific target in gender and age, since it specifies the "Men". The visual of the idents also showed a clear target audience towards the male gender since it showed visuals that the male gender would have more interest in.

Who are the target audience for the channel?
The main target audience could be multiple or different ages, since the channel provides content that can provide entertainment to all sorts of ages. This can be both young and old, since it provides classics and modernised classics.
The original ident "Movies4Men" showed a target audience of both those in the male gender or those of older ages since with the use of "Men". The visual of the idents also showed a clear target audience towards the male gender since it showed visuals that the male gender would have more interest in.

What do you think is the message, personality or theme that the current set of logos is trying to project?
The current set of logos is aiming for a more general area with no specifics in gender, age or interests. In terms of gender it's title only contains the two words "Great! Movies", which shows that it isn't targeting any specifics in gender. In terms of age it has gone for a mix in more cartoon but also a modern style which shows a mix in two different age types, both old and young. Interests are not specific either, other than the interest in movies, since it specifies that. The original ident "Movies4Men" had a message to say that they target male viewers and older viewers which was more specific than what they have changed to now, which is more of a general target.

What is the current ident like?
The current ident contains an animated visual that starts off with a close up in each of the letter, this is to build tension with the audience as they would have to guess what it is going to show. eventually it zooms out with each close up. The purpose of this could be that the channel is attempting to gain the viewers attention before they start the movie or the purpose of this is to alert the viewers that the movie is about to start.

What is the overall purpose of the idents for this channel?
The overall purpose of this ident is to alert the viewers that the film or series is about to resume or start. It is also an ident to make the audience aware of the identity of the channel brand. The ident itself can also change themes and colors randomly or for relating to the movie or series that is about to be viewed by the audience.

Paramount Network
What is the channel and what sort of programmes does it show?
Paramount network is a British free airing television channel, on Freeview Channel 32. It is operated by Channel 5. It offers on its channel, different types of medias such as Sports content, Series and Movies.

Who are the target audience for the channel?
Paramount Network targets ages between 21 to 29 of both male and female. The purpose of this selection is they believe that this range represents "an entirely new generation of moviegoers, who have vastly different interests and attitudes.

What do you think is the message, personality or theme that the current set of logos is trying to project?
The current set of logos contains a more generalised theme that does not look for the intention of appealing to one gender. As it's logo contains a title the same as it's name. It's also does not mention any specific wordings for a specific targeted gender. However some of it's idents may convey a different theme that is based on the movie that is about to play. For example Paramount Intro Transformers Theme
Within this ident, the audio of the intro has been remade to fit with the theme of the movie.

The logo also contains 24 stars originally, which were a message to represent the first 24 actors that that were contracted for the Paramount company.

What is the overall purpose of the idents for this channel?
Within this ident it shows multiple transitions and effects of different visuals while having 2 figures, both male and female being seen. This could be interpreted to the audience that this network's content can relate to both genders. It also switches into different themes showing 2 figures both male and female in different environments with different clothing. The purpose of this could be telling the audience, that they have various content ranging from crime to historic themed shows. This may appeal to certain viewers of the audience.

Channel Chosen?
The channel that I have chosen is Paramount Network, the reason for why I have chosen this is because I believe it will contain more information. It is also a show that has existed for a while. I also have some good ideas that could work well with this channel. Since Paramount Network is owned by a conglomerate called Viacom Media Networks, this will help benefit in the progression of the changes.

History of the Channel
Paramount Network originally launched as Nashville Network, which was a joint venture launched on March 7th 1983. It was made for the purpose of distributing cultural and lifestyle of country music. Around 2003, to further it's distance from TNN, Nashville Network was discussed by Viacom, and relaunched as Spike TV. With the slogan "The first Network for Men", this slogan has a specific target in gender which is Male. This shows Paramount Network originally shifted towards targeting males. It aims to target ages of 18 and above. On the 3rd of March 2015, Spike TV revealed a logo and a tagline, "The Ones to Watch". This was a relaunch to make the brand more involved with women, since it originally started out with targeting mainly men.

Paramount Network Ident History
Paramount Networks main idents launched in the UK on the 4th July 2018. The idents it created for use had a message behind it. One of these messages was that the ident itself centres around individuals being drawn to the centre coming from behind the filming or camera. This was continuously presented in the US. These idents remained until January 2020 when the channel merged with a sister channel called Spike. The ident goes in an transitioning style, having cuts and transitioning to a different theme from the same perspective. It can be seen both man and woman are running or walking to a centre point on the screen in constantly changing visuals.
